Q: What is the youngest age for volunteering?
A: Youth opportunities start at age 16, but these are limited to summer camp counselors only. Other volunteer opportunities have their own age restrictions, which are listed in the individual posting.
Q: Are there specific qualifications to become a volunteer?
A: An interest in anthropology and the San Diego Museum of Man is all you need! All volunteers receive training and information based on their program of interest.
Q: Is there a time commitment for volunteering?
A: Time commitment varies by position, but most require about 10 hours per month.
Q: Does the Museum offer internships?
A: SDMoM offers unpaid internships each semester. Our internship program is very competitive, so keep an eye on our Internship page and apply as soon as positions become available.
Q: Do volunteers help with tours of the California Tower?
A: Yes! We do have volunteers called “Tower Trekkers” to assist with tower tours. Applications are currently closed, but visit our Volunteer Programs page for future openings.
