Book Swap Surprise!

Calling all bookworms! Avid readers, casual book browsers, and reading fans of all ages are invited to join our free monthly Book Swap Surprise. To participate, bring a gently used book that deserves a new home and leave with a new-to-you book of your own. Part of the fun is in the surprise!

Each book swap will begin with time and supplies to wrap your book and write a brief description or message to its new reader.

How it works:

• Bring a book to add to the exchange.
• Upon arrival, wrap your book and write a brief description from your perspective.
• Engage in facilitated discussion about your books – while keeping the title a surprise!
• Choose a book to take with you and enjoy.

Guests are guaranteed one book to take home and may bring more than one book. All participants will have the same opportunity to share and choose a book; bringing additional books does not impact book swap perks or privileges.

Free to participate. All ages are welcome. Registration is required to ensure adequate space and planning time for our staff.

• Location: Museum of Us, Education Center
• Date: Last Saturday of the month, January through May
  • January 27, February 24, March 30, April 27, May 25
  • Join Us on Saturday, January 27, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for the Book Swap Surprise! and San Diego Public Library's 2024 Winter Reading Challenge Finale at the Museum.
• Time: 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Price: Free, standard admission or membership required to enter the Museum exhibition areas
